Welcome to Church Cottage Studio

The Studio

Welcome to Church Cottage Studio, an exclusive grown up retreat for couples looking to spend time together. Tucked away down a long sweeping driveway in a peaceful, idyllic corner of Devon – waiting just for you.

Once the photography studio of BAFTA award-winning wildlife cameraman, Maurice Tibbles, this unique hideaway has been recently converted into the perfect place for you to relax and enjoy the tranquility that is sometimes hard to find.

Adjacent to our home (Church Cottage), this tasteful detached studio offers a luxury king size bedroom suite with Tempur mattress, Egyptian cotton sheets and luxurious bedding. Quality En-suite with double rain shower, bathrobes, towels and complimentary bathroom products.

Bespoke kitchenette with hob, microwave/grill and fridge.

Lounge/dining area with HD4 Smart Tv, cosy wood burner, patio doors to private decking area with views towards the wildlife meadows.

Underfloor heating and 24/7 complimentary Wi-Fi broadband.

As classic car enthusiasts, we can also offer scenic routes with traditional picnic hampers for you to explore this beautiful part of the Westcountry in style! Even your cherished classic car or motor bike will receive top class hospitality, in a secure garage with tools and cleaning equipment in readiness for the following day’s adventure.

The Gardens & Grounds

Church Cottage Studio lies next to a pretty listed church, originally dating back to the Norman period.

Set in grounds of 18 acres, this is a special wildlife haven to be enjoyed and explored.

The resident birdlife is a sound to behold; you might even capture a glimpse of the deer in the preserved culm grassland meadow or the elusive otter by the coarse fish lake. Take a leisurely stroll and picnic in the meadow or simply enjoy the views over the attractive garden and fields beyond from the raised balcony, all are there for the taking.  You can even do a spot of fly-fishing with over 2000 yards of fishing for two rods on the River Torridge, a 20 minute walk away.

New for 2017 – Sundowners – enjoy al fresco dining until the sun goes down over the meadow, complete with gas Webber BBQ, indoor & outdoor seating areas.

We love gardening and growing our own vegetables, our garden is your garden, there are no little segregation fences here. We also have a great passion for wildlife and have dedicated some five acres to a culm grassland meadow – The Maurice Tibbles Meadow, which you can see from your private balcony. In keeping with the origins of the Studio, we can provide you with a covert wildlife camera for you to set and capture on film some of our resident creatures both during the day and at night.

Dining

Delicious and freshly prepared breakfasts can be served at your leisure for a locally paid charge of £15 per person. Aside from our popular Bed and Breakfast service, the kitchenette provides the option to cook or warm something up for breakfast, lunch or evening meal.

There are so many fabulous local farm shops close by for you to chose some local produce and prepare it yourselves in the studio, allowing more time to relax either on the decking or next to the cosy wood burner.

There are also many characterful friendly Inns serving hearty homemade dishes and local ales, or fine dining restaurants for that special occasion we can recommend to suit all.
