We’ve recently returned from a short break at Church Cottage Studio, and can honestly say we feel incredibly lucky to have found such a hidden gem! From the stunning decor inside the studio to the private BBQ area overlooking Maurice Tibbles Meadow, this idyllic location makes for a relaxing holiday that really hits the spot! We stayed at the studio with our 3 month old daughter, and found the facilities to be perfect. The studio itself is beautiful – everything fits together wonderfully and feels rather luxurious! The view from the terrace truly makes you feel like you’re experiencing the best of what the Devon countryside has to offer. The grounds (which we had exclusively to ourselves for the duration of our stay) showcase plant life and wildlife at its finest. It’s so wonderful to go to sleep at night hearing such an array of birds, bugs and beautiful beasts! There are a few ‘musts’ while staying here: visit the church for an insight into the history of the location; have breakfast (you won’t regret it!); take walks and try to spot as many different types of butterflies as possible; and finally, spend an evening down at the Sundowners pagoda – light the BBQ, sit back and relax in the stunning structure, built by the owners themselves. We cannot thank Paula and Kevin enough for their hospitality – we learnt so much about the grounds and local area from them, and they truly made us feel welcome at the place they call home. While we would love to encourage family to stay at Church Cottage Studio, there’s a small part of us that would love to keep it a secret and all for ourselves!
